Todd Derr

Todd Derr is an artist who works primarily “en plein air” or paints directly from life. His oil paintings of his surroundings are an attempt to capture the sublime beauty of an ever changing world. Todd was born and grew up in rural Indiana and has always been an avid outdoorsman, exploring the woods and creeks around his home. His love of hiking, canoeing/kayaking, cycling, and just being outside led to a natural fit to become a plein air painter. He loves to travel and paint.
He has trained with Troy Kilgore, Bill Fletcher, and Greg Summers and draws inspiration from many modern representational artist’s such as Joshua Been, Scott Christensen, Matt Smith, Jim McVicker, and countless others as well as past greats like Sorolla and Sargent.
Todd is an Air Force veteran and spent many years as a technician in civilian life before deciding to dedicate the rest of his life to pursue his dream to become a full time artist.
Todd has recently moved to Cleveland, Tennessee and is looking forward to exploring and painting that beautiful part of the country.
